Jollibee’s first franchised store launched in Santa Cruz, Manila, in 1979. At the end of the year, there were seven branches of Manila Metro. Jollibee Foods Corporation, a business that would run the fast food chain, was founded in January 1978. Initially Jollibee was called “Jolibe” but modified his name to “Jollibee” Lumba told the family regarding the shift in policy. ![]() When food products were more popular than ice cream, the family chose to turn the ice cream parlor to a fast food restaurant, which became the first Jollibee outlet in 1978. Subsequently, the outlet started selling hot meals and sandwiches on order from consumers. In 1975, Tony Tan and his family opened the Magnolia ice cream parlor in Cubao, Quezon City. Jollibee brief history in the Philippines As of April 2018, JFC had a total of roughly 1,200 Jollibee outlets worldwide, with involvement in South East Asia, the Middle East, East Asia, North America and Europe. Jollibee is a global chain of fast food restaurants in the Philippines operated by Jollibee Foods Group.
